MEDICAL SCREENING REQUIREMENT
Medical screening is a health check that consists of a general examination by the examining doctor, blood and urine tests as well as a chest x-ray examination. It is a mandatory requirement from the Government of Malaysia to protect the health of Malaysian residents and to reduce the potential burden on the public health service in Malaysia. The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has laid down criteria for the assessment of the health condition of international students which must be complied with.
PRE ARRIVAL MEDICAL SCREENING
A pre arrival medical examination is a series of medical tests required to be performed by students prior to arrival at Malaysia. This test is needed as a means to ensure that the students are fit to study in Malaysia. All students applying for a student pass must undergo a medical screening while still in their home country. However, for those students already in Malaysia, they are permitted to undergo medical screening in Malaysia.
POST ARRIVAL MEDICAL SCREENING
In addition, a Post arrival medical examination is mandatory for international students within 7 days from your date of entry into Malaysia. The examining doctor shall assess and conclude whether or not you are suitable to remain in Malaysia based on MOHE criteria. . This is a mandatory process and failing to complete this check may result in the cancellation of your visa.

Justifications :
Dear UMP future students,
Greetings from UMP International Office !
Congratulations on being offered a place to study at Universiti Malaysia Pahang!
According to the rules and regulations of the Immigration Department of Malaysia, all international students are required to have a valid Student Pass in order to study in Malaysia. The government agencies responsible are the Malaysian Immigration Department and the overseas Malaysian diplomatic missions (i.e. Malaysian High Commission, Consulates or Embassies) and Education Malaysia Global Services or EMGS are the private body appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education to process international student visa applications.
For students abroad who have received offer letter from UMP, you have to apply for student visa (Visa Approval Letter) directly through the Education Malaysia website. https://educationmalaysia.gov.my
For the student that already had record in applying Visa Approval Letter (VAL) / possess student pass previously with any Malaysia Educational Institution, please ensure the record is already cancelled by contacting the previous educational institution before applying new (VAL) at new institution.
You should not submit your application for a Student Pass any earlier than 6 months before the registration date or the intention date to come to study in Malaysia (postgraduate research student). This is because the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) which is issued after your student pass application is approved by the Immigration Department of Malaysia is only valid for 6 months. The Malaysian Immigration Department will only proceed with the student pass endorsement if the student arrives in Malaysia within the validity of the VAL, which is valid for 6 months from the date of issuance.
It is recommended for you to apply the VAL for 3 months before leaving your home country for UMP admission. Approval of a Visa Approval Letter will take from 14 working days up to 3 months provided all documents are in order.
Conversion from tourist visa to student pass is strictly not allowed. Please do not proceed for flight ticket issuance until the approval is obtained. UMP will not be liable for any difficulties of any loss of this arrangement.
